City of Pueblo seeking artist submissions for Pueblo Levee Mural Project
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- The City of Pueblo is requesting submissions from local artists for a historical and artistic design that will be displayed as part of the Pueblo Levee Mural Project.
The city said the design should include the five flags which are part of the city seal. The flags represent the five territories or countries that governed Pueblo in the last two centuries. The five flags are of France, Mexico, Texas, Spain, and the United States.
The city added that the design should tell a visual story of the history of Pueblo and represent the community of the city without recreating the official city seal.
"This theme represents our history and culture of Pueblo while allowing our talented art community the opportunity to showcase their designs in a lasting and historic way on the Pueblo Levee," District 3 Pueblo City Councilor Sarah Martinez said.
According to the city, the horizontal format for the mural is 24 ft. high by 48-60 ft. wide for painted scale on the levee. No logos, religious depictions, or trademarked designs can be included in the design. All artwork must also be original to the artist submitting the mural design.
The top five designs will be selected by Pueblo City Council and the final selection will go through a community-wide contest that will take place via the City of Pueblo website and social media channels.
Submissions are due by Friday, Nov. 18. Artwork should be submitted to PuebloLevee2022@gmail.com. Designs will be accepted in .jpg or .png formats.
