Dog dies and a man is seriously injured after an RV fire in Pueblo County

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) had deputies respond to a structure fire in the 1400 block of Second Rd. just before 11 p.m. on Sept 26.

The PCSO says that a 51-year-old man suffered serious burns after the RV he was living in caught fire. The victim was transported to a local hospital and later flown to a Denver hospital for medical treatment.

According to the PCSO, when deputies arrived, they found an RV fully engulfed in flames. The victim told deputies he had just finished cooking when the trailer burst into flames. The man and two dogs were the only occupants of the trailer.

The victim and one of the dogs were able to get out of the trailer. The second dog is believed to have perished in the fire.

The PCSO says that the RV was a total loss. Three additional trailers and two vehicles on and near the property where the RV was located also sustained damage from the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation; however, it appears to be accidental, according to the PCSO.
