Man arrested in Colorado Springs deadly double stabbing, charged with mother’s death

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Monday, the Colorado Springs Police Department released the name of one of two victims in a deadly stabbing.

On Sept. 22, at 7:20 p.m., officers responded to the 1200 block of Dancing Horse Dr. At the scene, CSPD says officers found two adults in need of immediate medical attention for life-threatening injuries.

After being taken to the hospital, one of the victims succumbed to her injuries. The victim has since been identified as Deborah Parker-Lykins.

The other victim, a man, was given medical treatment but succumbed to his injuries Monday and died. His name will not be released until the El Paso County Coroner can determine the official cause and manner of his death.

However, his death is being investigated as a homicide.

According to CSPD, their deaths are the 35th and 36th homicides so far in the city. This time last year, police had investigated 25.

The suspect, 31-year-old Cody Parker, was arrested for the murder of Parker-Lykins. According to police, he was her son.

According to police, he was taken to the El Paso County Jail after he was treated for self-inflicted injuries.

CSPD says another man was found at the scene who's considered a witness. He was not injured in the attacks.

According to CSPD, charges against Parker will be amended to include the murder of his second victim.
