New red-light camera to be activated in Colorado Springs
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Tuesday, the City of Colorado Springs announced it's activating a new red-light camera. According to the city, the new red-light camera is part of the Red-Light Safety Camera Program. It's to help protect motorists, passengers, cyclists, and pedestrians from crashes and injuries caused by motorists running red lights.
The new red-light camera will be activated at the intersection of Dublin Boulevard and Powers Boulevard, eastbound Dublin to northbound Powers, through lanes on Powers Road.
The City of Colorado Springs state there will be a 30-day warning period beginning Tuesday. Any motorists captured by the red-light camera at the new intersection will be given a written warning. After Oct. 13, any motorists who enter the intersection after the light has turned red will be given a $75 citation.
The following intersections currently have red-light cameras:
- East Platte Avenue and Chelton Road
- Briargate Boulevard and Lexington Drive
- North Academy Boulevard and North Carefree Circle
- North Academy Boulevard and Dublin Boulevard
- Lake Avenue and East Cheyenne Mountain
- Airport Road and South Academy Boulevard
- East Platte Avenue and North Union Boulevard
- East Woodmen Road and Duryea Drive
- Austin Bluffs and North Academy
- Platte and North Murray
- Woodmen Road and Black Forest Road
- Barnes Road and Tutt Boulevard
- Maizeland and North Academy
- Voyager Parkway and Academy Boulevard
- Colorado Ave and 31st Street
- Academy Blvd and Astrozon Boulevard
- Voyager Parkway and Interquest Parkway
- Union Boulevard and Fillmore Street
