Teller County Sheriff’s Office moves to Peak Alerts

TELLER COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Teller County has officially changed the way residents will receive emergency and non-emergency notifications.

Previously, people would receive alerts through two platforms. Effective Aug. 30, the Teller County Sheriff's Office is using one platform, Peak Alerts.

The change was first announced through the TCSO's Facebook at the beginning of August.

Currently, less than half of the Teller County population is registered for Peak Alerts. The sheriff's office is urging residents to sign up for Peak Alerts so they don't miss critical safety information.

People can sign up for Peak Alerts on a desktop computer and then download a mobile phone app. People can select their location and what kind of notifications they'd like to receive.

The Teller County Sheriff's Office says using one platform will prevent the sheriff's office from being inundated with calls, allowing them to respond to emergencies.
