Colorado State Patrol trooper rescues dog after crash, takes care of her while owner in hospital

GARFIELD COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- A Colorado State Patrol (CSP) trooper went the extra mile to help out a tiny, stranded traveler in Garfield County.
According to CSP, Captain Rapp was heading home when he stopped to lend a hand in a semi-truck crash near Rifle. The driver had suffered a seizure and was taken to a hospital.
While helping with the crash, a tiny passenger was found in the truck. CSP says a small dog, Ladybug, was huddled in her bed in the back of the cab, terrified.
CSP says none of the initial responders were able to coax her out of hiding. When Capt. Rapp tried, however, Ladybug immediately took to him and he was able to rescue her.
According to CSP, there wasn't a place for Ladybug to go due to no available animal control services. Capt. Rapp, being the one who saved her, decided to open his home to the tiny stranger.
Ladybug spent two, safe nights with him and his family while they wait for her owner to recover.
