“Meet Your Army” event at Fort Carson

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Fort Carson hosted the "Meet Your Army" event today.

The event was to encourage civilians to volunteer for the armed forces.

The Army is currently on track to miss its recruitment goals over the next two years by nearly 40 thousand soldiers.

Friday new prospects for the US Army as well as their families gathered at Fort Carson to “Meet the Army”. They were encouraged to talk with active duty military that shared stories of why they joined the army and why they continue to serve.

Attendees watched a live demonstration of soldiers in combat, being injured, being rescued, and taken to safety for treatment.

The all-day event aims to inspire a new generation of men and women who want to serve their country.
