RV crashes into Lakewood donut shop Monday morning

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (KRDO) -- An RV crashed into Winchell's Donut House in Lakewood Monday morning.

Just before 8 a.m., West Metro Fire Rescue reported the RV had crashed into the building that is located at the intersection of West Colfax Ave. and Pierce Street.

The Lakewood Police Department said the driver of the RV and an individual inside the business were transported to the hospital with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening. A dog was also rescued from the RV.

The individual in the business that was injured was reportedly sitting at a table that was directly hit by the RV and was thrown across the room.

Investigators are looking into what caused the crash, but surveillance video appears to indicate the vehicle was not driving recklessly.
