Construction on the Serpentine Roundabout in Manitou expected to cause traffic delays
MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The current Serpentine Roundabout in Manitou Springs will be removed and a new and improved one will be installed.
The new one will meet current design standards and provide accommodations for a soon-to-be installed 10-foot multi-use trail.
Beginning on Monday, August 15 construction operations will begin with flagging operations directing traffic through the roundabout and Serpentine corridor. On Tuesday, August 16, Serpentine Drive will undergo a full closure to all traffic from its US-24 access to the roundabout.
In addition, on Tuesday the roundabout will turn into a two-way road to allow access to Manitou Avenue from eastbound US-24 traffic. Flagging operations will direct traffic from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekdays. During all other times, traffic control will be set up to allow two-way traffic to remain.
The closure of Serpentine Drive is expected to last from Tuesday, August 16 until Friday, September 9. During this period, the only way to access US-24 Eastbound from the west end of Manitou Springs is from the Washington Ave. entrance or from the US-24 onramp in the 200 Block of Manitou Avenue.
