Pueblo judge rules attempted murder case can proceed to trial

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- A Pueblo judge ruled this week that an attempted murder case stemming from a shooting at a bar in January can proceed to trial.

33-year-old Dante Williams was charged with attempted murder and first-degree assault in connection with the shooting that occurred outside of Classic Q's pool hall in Pueblo.

Pueblo Police said officers responded to Classic Q's just late on January 15. When they arrived they found 47-year-old Renee Gonzales in a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. She was rushed to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery.

On March 23, Dante Williams turned himself in to Pueblo Police.

According to our news partners at the Pueblo Chieftain, police have surveillance video showing the shooting and believe they can identify Williams as the individual in the video. Williams has denied being at the scene of the incident or having any knowledge of it.

Judge Willam Alexander ruled on Aug. 8 that there is sufficient evidence to move the case to trial. Williams now has an arraignment hearing set for Sept. 15.
