PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative, the flagship program of the Bloomberg Center for Cities is now one of seven cities in the United States to participate in its inaugural two-year Bloomberg Harvard City Hall Fellowship program, Mayor of Pueblo Nick Gadisar announced Tuesday.

Jaritza “Jari” Núñez, a Bloomberg Harvard City Hall Fellow was welcomed by the Mayor's Office to make significant contributions within the next two years for the City of Pueblo.

The fellowship program puts Harvard master’s or professional degree graduates into leadership roles in city halls. Graduates will apply their skills and help develop capabilities in city government.

Núñez will implement and craft work to drive diverse, equal, and inclusive operations within the city. She obtained her master's degree in education from Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2022. In college, Núñez was part of many affinity groups such as Comunidad Latinx, HGSE First Gen/Next Gen Initiative, and the Rural Education Alliance.

The following seven cities have city hall fellows working for mayors and senior city leaders:

  • Pueblo, Colorado
  • Boise, Idaho
  • Charleston, South Carolina
  • Grand Rapids, Michigan
  • Knoxville, Tennessee
  • Springfield, Illinois
  • Syracuse, New York

“We are delighted to welcome Jari to Pueblo and look forward to a partnership over the next two years that can help us transform equity structures in our city,” said Mayor of Pueblo Nick Gradisar. “We are grateful to Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative that allows this fellowship to take place at no cost to the City of Pueblo.”
