Almost 30 people were rescued in Denver after severe flash flooding
DENVER, Colo. (KRDO) -- Denver Fire Department (DFD) crews rescued 29 people from their vehicles as flash flooding trapped many in the Denver area on Sunday evening.
DFD reported that crews rescued 11 people from their vehicles in the area of Interstate 70 and York Street. Of the 11 rescued, 3 were children.
DFD also rescued a baby from a vehicle on 38th and Blake that was stuck in flood water.
Our Denver partners at 9News say that at Colorado Boulevard and 23rd Avenue, water pooled up to car bumpers. One person was assisted by firefighters, and multiple others were able to get out on their own, according to DFD.
At 14th Avenue and Krameria Street, DFD assisted six people, according to 9News.
9News says that at 46th Avenue and Washington Street, fire crews assisted three people.
DFD said that there were no injuries reported at any of those locations.
ABC News shared a video of firefighters rescuing several children from a vehicle that had been submerged under water. According to 9News, this was near 38th and Blake.
