Tracking extreme heat & lingering wildfire smoke

TODAY: We're heating back up Thursday with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 90s in Colorado Springs and Pueblo. The only area with a chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm is the far Southeastern Plains. Smoke from out-of-state fires lingers, extending air quality alerts. Fire danger becomes more widespread today with fire weather watches and warnings stretching toward I-25.

EXTENDED: The hot and mostly dry conditions continue through the weekend with highs in the upper 90s in Colorado Springs and triple digits in Pueblo Friday through Monday. Fire danger continues through this period. Monsoonal moisture makes a return by early next week.
