New red-light camera goes live this week in Colorado Springs
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A new red-light camera will go live in Colorado Springs this week at the intersection of Fillmore St. and Union Blvd.
According to the City of Colorado Springs, the goal of the "Red-Light Safety Camera Program" is to protect drivers, passengers, cyclists, and pedestrians from injuries and crashes caused by running red lights. It is also a part of the Colorado Springs Police Department's effort to reduce crashes and improve safety on city streets.
The new red-light camera will go live on Aug. 5. There will be a 30-day warning period from that date. Following the warning period, violators will receive a $75 fine. No points will be assessed on driver's licenses.
