Celebrate Colorado Day with free state park admission
DENVER (KRDO) -- Governor Jared Polis is encouraging Coloradans to celebrate the 146th annual Colorado Day on Monday.
Colorado Day is celebrated every year on August 1, which is the day Colorado officially became a state in 1876.
“Colorado Day is an opportunity to celebrate our beautiful state, support our small businesses, visit one of our world-class state parks for free, and experience everything Colorado has to offer,” Gov. Polis said. “We will continue doing everything we can to save people money and to build a Colorado for all.”
On August 1, entrance to all Colorado state parks is free. The History Colorado Museum in Denver is also offering free admission and providing attractions for visitors to learn about state history.
Coloradans can also take advantage of free Regional Transportation District (RTD) fares now through the end of August. This is all part of Gov. Polis's Zero Fare for Better Air initiative, which is designed to help Coloradans save money and improve air quality. Additionally, the Pegasus and Bustang services will be half-off for people looking to visit mountain towns via Interstate 70.
