District 11 offering $2,500 hiring bonuses
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Ahead of the upcoming school year, Colorado Springs School District 11 is offering hiring bonuses.
According to the district, D11 currently has 129 teacher vacancies and a "dire need" for bus drivers and food and nutrition service employees.
Additionally, D11 officials say the district is searching for special education teachers, math teachers, science teachers, counselors, psychologists, and special education assistants, among the specialized positions.
In an effort to garner more applicants, D11 is now offering a $2,500 hiring bonus for nearly hired teachers, support staff, and special service providers.
The district will be holding four on-the-spot hiring fairs:
- August 1, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. at Jack Swigert Aerospace Academy, 4220 E. Pikes Peak Ave. 80909
- During this fair, the district is hiring teachers and support staff for the southeast area schools
- August 1, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. at Mann Middle School, 1001 E. Van Buren St., 80907
- During this fair, the district is hiring teachers and support staff for the central area schools
- August 2, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. at Holmes Middle School, 2455 Mesa Rd., 80904
- During this fair, the district is hiring teachers and support staff for the west area schools
- August 2, 2-5 p.m., Doherty High School, 4515 Barnes Rd., 80917
- During this fair, the district is hiring teachers and support staff for the northeast area schools
There will also be a hiring booth at the District's 150-year Sesquecentennial School Year Celebration. That happens on August 11 at Garry Berry Stadium, 2020 Glenn Summer Road, 80909, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
