‘Look before you lock,’ Drivers reminded to never leave pets or children in hot cars

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The City of Colorado Springs is reminding parents and pet owners to always "look before you lock" during hot weather.
On Twitter, the City of Colorado Springs shared a message about safety from the Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management.
Officials say even with windows rolled down, just a few minutes left in a hot car can be deadly.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), there have already been ten pediatric vehicular heatstroke deaths across the United States.

Additinally, the NWS says animals can die of heatstroke within 15 minutes. During hot weather, people are advised to leave their pets at home.
