Aurora man sentenced to 64 years to life after teen dies from fentanyl overdose
AURORA, Colo. (KRDO) -- Thursday, a 27-year-old Aurora man was sentenced to 64 years to life in prison for his role in distributing fentanyl to a 16-year-old victim who ultimately died of an overdose.
After a six-day trial, Jorge Alexander Che-Quiab was found guilty of multiple charges, including manslaughter, controlled substance distribution to a minor, and sexual assault of a minor.
According to the 18th Judicial District, police were called to Che-Quiab's home in April of 2020 for a possible overdose. The victim was then pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation revealed that Che-Quiab and another adult man had supplied alcohol, marijuana, and fentanyl to a group of underage girls the night before. Che-Quiab told police that even though one of the girls appeared to be suffering an overdose, he decided to go to bed and not seek emergency care on her behalf.
The next morning, the girl was found unresponsive and 911 was called.
Further investigation revealed that during the same gathering, Che-Quiab sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl to whom he had also supplied a "large quantity of alcohol."
The DA's Office also reports that a search of Che-Quiab's house turned up 300 fentanyl-laced pills and several bricks of heroin.
