Colorado Springs Fire Department hosts meeting to help with wildfire preparedness

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) is hosting several meetings over the summer to help people prepare for possible wildfires.

CSFD says that the meetings will cover how to prepare your home for wildfire, creating a wildfire action plan, and knowing when and how to evacuate. There will also be plenty of time for questions.

CSFD also streams the meetings on Facebook and has past meetings up for viewing.

Meetings on July 12 and 14 at Pulpit Rock Church from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. are for people living in the following neighborhoods.

  • North of Filmore
  • East of I-25
  • South of Woodmen
  • North Nevada/The Studio
  • Cragmor
  • Garden Ranch
  • Vista Grande
  • Pulpit Rock
  • Kitty Hawk/Bonnyville neighborhoods

Meetings on July 19 and 21 at First United Methodist Church from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. are for people in the following neighborhoods.

  • North of Platte/Uintah
  • South of Filmore
  • East of I-25, and West of Academy
  • Roswell,
  • Old North End
  • Patty Jewett
  • Middle Shooks Run
  • Palmer Heights
  • Austin Estates
  • Palmer Park
  • Wasson

CSFD says that all meetings are open to the public even if they do not live in those areas of town.
