Colorado Avalanche celebrate Stanley Cup victory with downtown Denver parade

DENVER (KRDO) -- The Colorado Avalanche will celebrate its Stanley Cup victory with its fans Thursday in downtown Denver.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Union Station. Avalanche players will show off Lord Stanley's Cup to fans as they make their way down 17th St., then to Broadway, where the parade will end at Civic Center Park.

A rally will begin at Civic Center Park at 9 a.m. with live music, a live look at the parade in progress, and a highlight reel of the team's 2021-2022 season. The parade will end at the rally staging area. At that time, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock and dignitaries will present a program honoring the Avs.

The city of Denver is advising fans to leave early since the parade and rally are expected to draw a massive crowd. Fans are urged to wear sunscreen and drink plenty of water.

The following items are prohibited:

  • Alcohol, marijuana, and illegal drugs
  • Chairs and seating of any kind
  • Blankets, tarps, beach towels, etc.
  • Inflatable objects (beach balls, latex balloons, etc.)
  • Cans and bottles
  • Grills or propane
  • Weapons (i.e., knives, pepper spray, stun guns, any concealed weapons, firearms, etc.)
  • Umbrellas
  • Hard case containers (coolers, briefcases, etc.)
  • Air horns/whistles/vuvuzelas
  • Animals (except service animals)
  • Chemicals
  • Fireworks, smoke bombs, etc.
  • Large backpacks, suitcases, beach bags, equipment bags, etc.
  • Drones 
  • Audio/video recording devices (including large cameras & tripods)
  • Laser pointers
  • Police/Radio Scanners
  • Skateboards/Roller Blades
