New venue for Fourth of July celebration in Colorado Springs
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Fourth of July Philharmonic celebration is back in Colorado Springs for the first time since COVID-19.
The celebration this year will look a little different than it has in previous years.
The concert by the Philharmonics, typically in Memorial Park, will now be at the Pikes Peak Center. The Star Spangled Symphony performance will also be live-streamed for the first time.
President and CEO of the Colorado Springs Philharmonics, Nathan Newbrough, told KRDO the venue change is a way to prevent weather cancellations and work with burn bans that may be in effect.
There will also be a block party before the concert.
The concert begins at 4:30 p.m. with doors opening at 3:30 p.m. The block party will run from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Free registration is required for the concert.
Fireworks are still occurring at various locations throughout the city. A map of the shows can be found below.
