How Colorado Springs has grown since the Waldo Canyon Fire

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- There's no denying that Colorado Springs is seeing a lot of growth, with more people moving to the area than ever before.
Colorado Springs is now the second, fastest-growing city in the state with El Paso County considered the most populous county in Colorado.
The latest U.S. Census numbers show Colorado Springs' population is just under 484,000 people. That's over 51,000 more people, or nearly a 12% increase, from 2012 when the Waldo Canyon Fire happened.
The population growth over the last decade has only fueled concern about what it would take to safely evacuate everyone if another major wildfire broke out.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department is hosting a Town Hall series to educate residents on the dangers wildfires pose to their specific area.
Additionally, the city council is considering a proposal that is meant to address concerns about wildfire evacuation plans.
