Colorado DMV delaying registration renewal reminders for June and August

KRDO

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles is delaying its registration renewal reminders for June and August. According to the state, the delay is due to the end of the fiscal year programming updates.

If your vehicle registration is set to expire in July, you will not be reminded to renew this month.

With these delays, the DMV is encouraging all Coloradans to check their registration expiration and plan accordingly.

Additionally, the Pueblo Police Department says officers are cracking down on those with expired plates. Already in 2022, police have issued 268 citations to motorists. That's nearly five times what they issued in 2021 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The numbers of citations are up in the entirety of Pueblo County as well, not just the city. Motorists who fail to renew their registration can face u to $100 in fines.
