Two fires burning at Lake Minnequa Park and Open Space contained
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Crews spent much of Thursday afternoon battling two wildland fires burning at Lake Minnequa Park and Open Space.
Just before 6:30 p.m., the Pueblo Fire Department said the two fires were contained and burned 20 acres.
The fire burned north of Pueblo Blvd. and east of Lakeshore Ave. At 3:44 p.m., officials said multiple city, rural, and Pueblo West crews responded.
At 5:30 p.m., officials confirmed there were two fires burning in the area. The fire department believes the fires started at the same origin point but split along the lake.

PFD said earlier that the wind has shifted, complicating efforts.
At 3:57 p.m., the Pueblo Police Department announced there are pre-evacuation orders in place for the Lake Minnequa neighborhood.

Just before 4:55 p.m., a helicopter from Fremont County arrived to assist with the fire. According to city officials, people in the area might see ash in the air.
