The Air Force baseball team will play in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1969

Fifty-three years has passed since the last time Air Force reached the NCAA tournament but the Falcons are back after winning their first Mountain West Conference Championship, “Yeah, it’s awesome. I don’t know if it’s exactly hit all of us yet, because we’re in the middle of it, but looking back I’m sure we’re going to realize how big of a deal this was. At the same time, coming into this year, we knew we had a good shot to do this,” says Air Force outfielder, Blake Colvin.

Air Force will head to Austin, Texas, where they'll play Texas. Back in April, the Falcons split a two game set with the Longhorns, winning 14-2 on April 19th, that series was the spark for Air Force, “Going to play against Texas, who is obviously a really great team, and they’re nationally ranked, to come out with that kind of a win, it kind of boosted our confidence a whole lot going into the second half of the season,” says Air Force second baseman, Trayden Tamiya.

The journey is not over. The Falcons are rolling, and they've got their eyes set on the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, “I think we’re definitely one of the scarier 4-seeds in the country, just looking at the arms that we have, and that way we can swing the bat. I don’t think they’re going to take us lightly, that’s for sure,” says Air Force first baseman, Sam Kulasingam.

Tamiya adds, “A lot of us boys like to be the underdog. That’s kind of the way we’ve been through it all season. Nobody picked us to be in the spot, and it’s kind of cool to have the ability to do so.” “We’re capable of more. We’re not getting complacent with where we’ve gotten. We’re just ready to go attack this weekend again,” says Colvin.
