Heat, heat, and more heat

Good evening!

After a hot afternoon, we will slowly begin to cool things down. We saw high temperatures today in the mid 90s here in Colorado Springs, with temperatures climbing to 101° in Pueblo. The one thing that did provide some slight relief from the heat was a breeze out of the southeast at 10-15 mph.

Overnight tonight, plan on mostly clear skies with low temperatures in the mid 60s.

Unfortunately, the heat will stick around through Monday before we see *some* relief.

A Heat ADVISORY will be in effect from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Monday for portions of the KRDO viewing area, including Colorado Springs and Pueblo.

High temperatures tomorrow here in Colorado Springs should be right around 99° with those of you to the south towards Pueblo possibly as high as 102°-104°.

Obviously the heat is the big story for the next couple of days, but there is a slight chance we may also see a stray shower or thunderstorm, especially off towards the south and west of Colorado Springs.

As we head into Tuesday, we will finally see some relief from the heat. High temperatures will dip back down into the mid 80s, and we'll see a much better shot at some afternoon showers and thunderstorms. However, don't get too used to those cooler temperatures because the 90s are expected back in the forecast later on in the week. Try to remember days like today and tomorrow when we're freezing cold in the middle of January!

Enjoy the rest of your evening and stay safe!
