Motion granted by judge to drop charge against Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy

DENVER (KRDO) -- On Tuesday, a judge in Arapahoe County granted a prosecution motion to drop the charge against Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.

According to 9News, the motion was filed before a hearing that is scheduled for later in the afternoon, based on 9News Broncos Insider, Mike Klis first reported.

Also, Judge Chantell Contiguglia vacated the hearing and closed the case. In addition, a mandatory protection associated with the case was vacated.

Jeudy was arrested on May 12 and held on a misdemeanor charge of Second-Degree Criminal Tampering, with a Domestic Violence Enhancer, according to 9News.

Deputies from the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office were dispatched after 10 a.m. on May 12 after they received a "keep the peace" call from a woman, said Sheriff Tyler Brown.

That day, Jeudy was taken into custody without incident between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., according to Brown.

Brown said the woman says Jeudy locked her wallet, a car seat, and their child's medical papers in his vehicle and wouldn't give the woman access. The woman told deputies she was trying the leave the home and wanted her property back.

Jeudy spent that night in custody. The next day, the victim said she didn't consider Jeudy a threat. Also, she reported no physical contact at the time of the incident. The victim wanted the charges to be dismissed.

"Sometimes bad things happen to good people," Jeudy's attorney Harvey Steinberg said as he addressed the media outside Judge Chantel E. Contiguglia's courtroom after the hearing on May 13. "That's what this case is. I don't think he should have been arrested. I don't think he should have been incarcerated.''
