Stage 2 fire restrictions lifted for Cańon City Thursday

CAÑON CITY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Cańon City Area Fire Protection Chief announced he had rescinded all fire restrictions within the boundaries of the Cańon City Area Fire Protection District effective 9 a.m. Thursday.
Stage 2 fire restrictions began Thursday, May 19, at noon. At that time, officials said as Fremont County and surrounding areas continued to experience "adverse fire conditions." it was "imperative to provide safety" for the community.
Now, Fire Chief David DelVecchio says the restrictions were lifted due to the "favorable weather improvements" that are expected for the area in the immediate future.
However, officials say if conditions change, the fire restrictions will be reassessed and could be re-instituted.
Wednesday, the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office lifted fire restrictions for that area.
