Fire burning near Pagosa Springs forces evacuations

ARCHULETA COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Crews are battling a wildfire burning near Pagosa Springs that's caused an evacuation order.

Officials say the Plumtaw Fire is burning 4.75 miles northwest of the Pagosa Springs airport, north of Plumtaw Road.

According to the San Juan National Forest, an evacuation order has been issued for the Lost Valley of the San Juans neighborhood in Mineral County. This was issued at 4:52 p.m.

Additionally, the forest service said the fire had grown to 50-70 acres.

Residents are asked to contact Archuleta County Dispatch for more information on evacuations.
