Pueblo resident named Partner of the Year by Colorado State Forest Service
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS) announced Tuesday that Pueblo resident, Molly Pitts is named CSFS Partner of the Year.
In March, Pitts received the award at the virtual CSFS yearly meeting. CSFS recognizes partners and volunteers exhibit remarkable achievements and commitment toward its mission and priorities.
According to Colorado State University (CSU), Pitts plays a critical role as an advocate and voice for the timber industry in Colorado. She received the CSFS Partner of the Year award for 2021 after supporting and cooperating with CSFS in many ways.
“I know there is a lot of great work getting done in Colorado by a lot of hard-working people who are passionate about forest management. Therefore, I am very humbled to have been chosen as CSFS’ Partner of the Year,” said Pitts. “I am excited to continue working with the CSFS and other partners moving forward to get the critical work we need done on the ground.”
The Colorado Timber Industry Association (CTIA) organization represents forest companies in Colorado and advocates for sustainable forest management.
“Molly’s CSFS Partner of the Year Award is well deserved because of her numerous efforts in support of the CSFS mission and vital programs,” said Diana Selby, Manager of Program Delivery with the CSFS. “The CSFS is fortunate to have such a tireless and engaged partner in the Colorado Timber Industry Association.”
Colorado State University says Pitts provides elaborate advice to the Forest Restoration and Wildfire Risk Mitigation grant program in a meaningful way.
In addition, Pitts trained CTIA members under Best Management Practices (BMP) while staff at CSFS were unable to work due to COVID-19 restrictions. Also, Pitts helped collect feedback for CSFS’ Wood Utilization and Marketing program. Her efforts are in support of the CSFS mission.
“Molly’s recognition as our 2021 CSFS Partner of the Year acknowledges her exceptional support toward improving the conditions of Colorado’s forests and helping the Colorado State Forest Service’s efforts in assisting Colorado’s wildfire mitigation and forest products business community,” said Tim Reader, Wood Products Program Specialist with the CSFS.
