Colorado Springs Fire Department hosts more town hall meetings on wildfires
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs Fire Department is hosting two more Town Hall meetings to inform residents about wildfires specific to what area of town they live in.
The meetings are part of a Town Hall Series called Living with Wildfire. CSFD says the Living with Wildfire series "aims to empower the community to be ready if a wildfire happens." The topics discussed at these meetings are:
- How to prepare your home for wildfire
- Creating a wildfire action plan
- Knowing when and how to evacuate
According to the fire department, there will be more than 20 meetings throughout the entire city. The first set of meetings began on April 19.
This week, meetings are being held:
- Tuesday, May 3:
- 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Colorado Springs Masonic Center, 1150 Panorama Dr., Colorado Springs
- Thursday, May 5:
- 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Colorado Springs Masonic Center, 1150 Panorama Dr., Colorado Springs
The two meetings this week are for residents who live south of Garden of the Gods, north of Highway 24, and west of I-25. That includes the following neighborhoods:
- Westside
- Old Colorado City
- Mesa
- Mesa Springs
- Hillside
- Downtown
- Holland Park
- Kissing Camels
- Cedar Heights
- Garden of the Gods
- Pleasant Valley
