Sand Creek’s Aidan Flores chases his dream

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Sand Creek right fielder Aidan Flores has dreams of getting to the big leagues. His baseball idol is Jim Abbott. Like Abbott, Flores plays the game with one hand. He's mastered the art of exchanging the ball from his glove to his hand in one fluid motion. He's got his eyes set on big things.

"My actual main goal is to get into the MLB," Flores says. "I have so much fun playing baseball. It’s the best sport. You don’t have many people working as hard. They’re giving 100%, I’m giving 120%."

Flores wears batting gloves, and not everyone immediately notices he's playing with one hand.

"If they don’t see me out on the field, they’re not going to realize that I don’t have my left hand," Flores says. "They’re just gonna say, ‘Oh he’s a normal kid’ until they see me do that transition. Then they’re like, ‘What happened?’”

What's happened is that Flores has become and outstanding right fielder. He's got big league goals, and he has the work ethic to make his dreams come true.
