El Paso County's Election Audit tool provides extra transparency

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder's Office wants to encourage the community to take advantage of its Election Audit Tool. This tool allows voters to view, sort, filter and download ballot images from both the 2020 and 2021 Elections, giving people an extra level of election transparency.

According to El Paso County Clerk and Recorder Chuck Broerman, this is just one of several initiatives the county has now implemented to ensure the public has confidence and trust of the election process and the confirmation results for the past two elections.

"I strongly encourage those who have doubted the election results in El Paso County to utilize this tool and be your own citizen auditor and see firsthand elections conducted here are transparent, accurate and verifiable," added Broerman.

You can learn about the tool here. Ballot Audit Review Tool Frequently Asked Questions can be found here. Anyone interested in using this tool can visit the El Paso County Recorder's office website.  All users will need to register with a valid email address and password to create a user profile before gaining access.

Last week, the Clerk and Recorder’s Office released the results of an additional audit of the 2021 Coordinated Election that was conducted by Clear Ballot.

ClearAudit is a respected post-election audit system that utilizes a digital process to verify elections results by recounting digital images and digitally organize another voting system’s ballots to provide a post-election audit.
