Suspect resists arrest, hitting Colorado Springs Officer multiple times

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO)-- A man is in Colorado Springs Police custody after falling under suspicion of stealing a car and being in possession of drugs, according to a press release from CSPD.

Colorado Springs Police said they were searching the area near 1300 Royer St. when they came across a car with license plate that didn't belong to it. That's north of Downtown Colorado Springs, not far from Colorado College.

Officers went to make contact with the suspect inside, and saw what they suspected to be drugs inside the car. When officers attempted to detain the suspect, he ran away. Officers were able to catch up with the suspect, at which point they say he resisted arrest, and hit an officer multiple times.

The press release indicates police used "less lethal force" to subdue the suspect. He was arrested, taken in for medical evaluation and then to the El Paso County Jail.

At the time of this article, no suspect information or charges are available.
