Friday morning traffic impact: Texas Brotherhood bike ride

Aubry Tucker

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO)-- The Texas Brotherhood bike ride will affect drivers across El Paso County Friday morning. Riders will start pedaling at around 7 A.M. in Ellicot riding at least through 11 A.M. or until they arrive in Memorial Park.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, bicyclists will be Westbound on HWY 94 starting at 7 A.M. They will make their way to HWY 94 and Platte from 10 to 11 A.M. at expected speeds of just 10 miles per hour.

This will cause a slowdown in traffic during those time frames. The Sheriff's Office is asking the community to use alternate routes to avoid getting stuck behind the slow moving traffic.

The Texas Brotherhood bike ride lasts 2 weeks, and covers 1,000 miles. The group bikes all the way from Houston, TX and finishes the journey in Colorado Springs. Find more information on the Texas Brotherhood bike ride here.
