Animal-free circus comes to Colorado Springs brewery
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- If you’ve ever dreamt of running away to join the circus, now’s your chance. Venardos Circus is in Colorado Springs until August 22. The animal-free circus is even partnering with Colorado Springs brewery, FH Beerworks, in hopes of bringing them some extra revenue, too.
“I’m excited about it. This is our first time in Colorado,” Kevin Venardos, Ring Master for the circus. "This kind of model we’ve done all over the country, where a small business has some green space next to their business, we put the tent there, invest in the show done like we do anywhere else, and our partner benefits from that, so it builds community."
Travis Fields, owner of FH Beerworks, said the brewery is already reaping the benefits of the circus' success. Tickets for Venardos Circus sold out for their opening night on August 11.
“Oh my gosh, it was amazing," said Fields. "We had the parking lot full front to back. It was just really great to see the community come together.”
Ring master, Kevin Venardos, said as a small, family-run circus themselves, helping local businesses has always been a part of their magic. Venardos said it's actually his favorite part, second only to seeing the reactions in the crowd.
“Seeing children experience it for the first time, seeing parents' faces looking at their kids with their mouths agape, that's magic," said Venardos.
FH Beerworks is staying open an hour later on weekdays for guests who want to grab a beer or some food after the show.
