13-year-old shot during road rage incident in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- UPDATE: The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says a 13-year-old girl was shot during a road rage incident this past weekend on Interstate 25.
Police responded to a fire station on S. Academy Blvd. at about 1 p.m. Sunday. When officers arrived they found the 13-year-old female victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was heading to the hospital when the driver stopped at the fire station to get medical help. She was taken to the hospital shortly thereafter.
According to the sheriff's office, the incident started on Interstate 25 near the S. Academy Boulevard exit. The girl was in a vehicle with four other people when a white GMC Acadia started driving behind them aggressively. The Acadia then reportedly pulled up alongside the victim's car, and someone threw a beverage can at them before the SUV continued following them.
When the victim's car exited and stopped at a red light, the GMC Acadia followed, and an occupant fired at least three shots at the victim's vehicle. One bullet went through the rear of the car, and the tip of the bullet exited "the outer portion of the seat" when it hit the girl.
The driver of the GMC Acadia is described to be a white man with short dark blonde hair, blue eyes, an athletic build, and with a beard. He was reportedly seen driving in the Pueblo West area.
This is a developing story. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office will continue with the investigation. Check back for updates.
