2 people, 1 dog die in plane crash in Lone Tree

LONE TREE, Colo. (KRDO) -- South Metro Fire Rescue confirmed two people and a dog died after a plane crash in Lone Tree Wednesday.

At 1:51, South Metro Fire responded to reports that an airplane crashed in the area of S. Peoria St. and Ridgegate Pkwy. At the scene, crews confirmed a single plane crashed, causing an active brush fire to spread.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, two people and a dog were aboard. The aircraft had departed from Neosho, Missouri, and was headed to the Centennial Airport.

South Metro say a plane hit an electrical line, units are being careful around the lines until charge is mitigated.

By 2:26, crews said the brush fire was under control.

South Metro says they're still working on gathering information. The victims have not been identified at this time.
