Deputies arrest suspect in West Colorado Ave. shooting

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office arrested a suspect in a shooting that happened last week in unincorporated El Paso County.

On June 10, deputies responded to the 3400 block of West Colorado Avenue on reports of a shooting. At the scene, deputies found an adult man in the parking lot with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

First responders provided him medical care at the scene before he was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Wednesday, deputies arrested the suspect, identified as Jonathan Dykas, 34, without incident. According to court documents, he faces assault with a deadly weapon, assault 1 extreme indifference, and felony menacing.

The arrest was made as a joint operation by the Regional Fugitives Unit, the EPSO Tactical Support Unit, and the EPSO K9 Unit. Deputies also say the United States Secret Service also provided support and assistance in finding the suspect.
