Bear breaks into unlocked car, gets trapped

LARKSPUR, Colo. (KRDO) -- A bear got trapped inside of a car Wednesday morning, destroying the interior.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife say a bear broke into an unlocked car in an attempt to get a case of beer. Unfortunately, the bear got stuck inside. CPW says the bear spent an hour in the car before deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office helped a CPW officer release the bear from the car.

CPW says this is a reminder to Coloradans who live in bear country to lock their cars and never leave food inside a vehicle.

According to CPW, there were more than 480 car bear break-ins between 2019 and 2020.
