Missing 12-year-old living on the streets in Colorado Springs with non-custodial mother

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is looking for a missing and endangered child. Investigators say she is living on the streets of Colorado Springs with her mother, who does not have custody.

Jarika Otero, 12, was last seen in Pueblo on Monday with her non-custodial mother, 32-year-old Jolene Ware, living in a tent.

The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office says there's reason to believe Jarika and Ware are living on the streets in Colorado Springs.

Detectives have been actively looking for Jarika and believe her welfare is endangered. Homeless camps in Pueblo County were checked on Tuesday and several individuals said Ware spoke about taking Jarika to Colorado Springs. Detectives believe the two are on foot and may be in Pueblo or the Colorado Springs area.

Deputies describe Jarika as 5'2", 95 lbs., with green eyes and brown hair. She was last seen wearing jean shorts with designs on the pockets and a red t-shirt tied in the front. Ware is described as 5'9", 130 lbs., brown eyes and hair. Detectives say Ware recently cut both her and her daughter's hair.

Anyone who's seen them are asked to call 9-1-1 or the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office at (719)-583-6402.
