Man accused of shooting a Colorado Springs Police officer arrested

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The man suspected of shooting a Colorado Springs Police officer has been arrested.

On Tuesday, CSPD says officers located Jacob Aaron Sedillo at a residence in the 600 block of Superior Street.

Police say he was taken into custody without incident or injury to anyone involved. Sedillo was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on charges stemming from the shooting investigation.

Friday night, an officer attempted to make contact with Sedillo and another motorcyclist. That's when Sedillo shot at the officer, shooting him at least once.

Sedillo fled the scene and CSPD released a warrant for his arrest, he is currently being charged with Attempted First Degree Murder.

At the time of the shooting, Sedillo already had a warrant for his arrest stemming from a March aggravated motor vehicle theft charge. In 2020 he pled guilty to a motor vehicle theft and pled guilty to a drug-related charge in 2018.

The officer who was shot suffered critical but non-life threatening injuries. He was discharged from the hospital Monday.

This continues to be an active investigation.
