US Olympian flies with Air Force Thunderbirds over Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Tuesday, a U.S. Olympian had the chance to be an honorary Thunderbird.

Bryan Clay, a gold-medal decathlete, flew with the Air Force Thunderbirds over Colorado Springs ahead of the Academy's graduation Wednesday.

Clay, who's familiar with training hard, got to watch the training of the Air Force Thunderbirds firsthand.

"It's totally different. I think the mindset's the same, you go over the fundamentals of what they told you to do and try to execute that," Clay explained. "But the experience is just something you can't explain. Totally different than anything I've ever done before."

Tuesday, Clay also got to meet the Academy's track and field team and congratulate the cadets on continuing their service as Air and Space Officers.
