Centura breaks ground on St. Clare hospital to meet demand for northern Colorado Springs
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Monday, Centura Health broke ground on a new $156 million northside Colorado Springs hospital.
St. Clare Hospital, which will be built on 58 acres of land at the intersection of Interquest Parkway and I-25, will meet the demands of the growing population in northeast Colorado Springs.Â
"We have so much growth going on to the north, it's a community need that needs to be met," said Brian Erling, CEO of Penrose-St Francis Health Services. "For us, it's about the addition of the beds, and the ICU beds."
Along with the extension at Penrose-St. Francis, Erling says Centura will be adding 132 beds in total, 40 of which are ICU capable.
Centura says St. Clare will be a state-of-the-art orthopedic hospital. The 72-bed hospital will include 10-ICU capable beds, 10 specialty-sized operating rooms with robotic capability, a 14-bed emergency department, imaging with CT, radiography, MRI and ultrasound.
"With the addition of the new hospital and our existing hospitals that comprise Penrose-St. Francis Health Services, we can continue to provide high-quality care for patients - mind, body and spirit."
