Neighbor helps put out kitchen fire in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Saturday night, a small kitchen fire broke out at an apartment at 1940 South Chelton in Colorado Springs, which is west of the Colorado Springs Airport. The Colorado Springs Fire Department arrived at around 10 p.m.
According to CSFD, one neighbor took initiative to put out the flames.
Doug Pape, Lieutenant with the Colorado Springs Fire Department, said, "We used a pump can to go in. The fire was out upon arrival by one of the neighbors with an extinguisher. We went in to confirm there was no extinction to the cabinets and the wall and we released other companions."
CSFD is investigating what may have caused the fire.
