Coronado Signing Day
For the senior class at Coronado high school, it's a day they'll remember forever. Eight student-athletes were among the twenty-five students who earned scholarships. The Coronado volleyball team, which reached the state tournament, had four players sign to play at the next level. Among them was versatile athlete Makayla Brown, "We really had a good group. We've been playing together for a while, so it was fun to sign with all of my best friends. It was kind of like an out of body experience. This is a whole new chapter of my life I just opened up. It's really exciting!," says Makayla Brown, who will play volleyball at McCook College.
Nicholas Sells is on his way to Cornell College in Iowa. He'll play football, but the dude is sharp, and he's actually going on an academic scholarship, "It was incredible! I can't ask for anything better. All this effort, all this time I put into this, and finally being able to reap the rewards it's just everything. I'm so glad my parents are happy. My family is just ecstatic, and it's great," says Nicholas Sells, who will play football at Cornell College in Iowa.
Jalen Austin was a big time hooper for the Cougars basketball team. He's dreamed of playing college ball since he was in elementary school. Now that dream is a reality, "It's crazy how things worked out. I dreamed I would get to this point, but at some points I wasn't sure if I would make it or not. It's just surreal that I'm actually living it, and I want to see how far I can go," says Jalen Austin, who will play basketball at Morningside College.
