Colorado Springs man arrested after threatening to kill ex-girlfriend and her family

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado Springs police were able to arrest a man who threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend and her family members and then attempted to break in to her home Wednesday night.

According to a report from CSPD, the victim called police and reported that her ex-boyfriend, 37-year-old Bhaktivedanta Ferrer, sent her messages saying that he was going to kill her and family members. Police responded, but officers couldn't locate Ferrer at first.

Just a short time later, police got a report that Ferrer was trying to force his way into the victim's home in southeast Colorado Springs through a sliding door on the balcony. Ferrer reportedly fled on foot, but officers found his truck at a vacant construction lot nearby.

Police got an arrest warrant for Ferrer on suspicion of stalking, menacing, and other domestic violence-related offenses, but he also had outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants. CSPD reported last year that Ferrer was arrested for DUI and possession of an illegal weapon after being found asleep in a car with a sawed-off shotgun.

At about 9 a.m. Thursday, Ferrer was taken into custody, police said. A mugshot hasn't been released yet.

We're working on getting more details about the investigation.
