Man sentenced to life in prison for 2018 double homicide
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man was convicted on all counts in a 2018 shooting near Lower Gold Camp Road and sentenced to life in prison.
In April of 2018, Colorado Springs police say they received a call of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Bergamo Way and Gold Camp Road. At the scene, officers discovered a man and a woman inside the car, both dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
Police later identified those victims as Serena Lee Garcia of Parker, 21, and Marcus Howard Denton of Colorado Springs, 20.
A few days after the shooting, police found and arrested Nashid Rayon Rivers, he was charged with first-degree murder for the shooting.
On Friday, Rivers was immediately sentenced by the Court. He was sentenced to two life terms.
Additionally he was found guilty of Second Degree Arson, Attempt to tamper with deceased human body, Tampering with physical evidence, and Conspiracy to commit murder.
