Salida memorial to honor missing Chaffee County woman on 50th birthday

CHAFFEE COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO)-- May marks one year since a Chaffee County woman's disappearance. Suzanne Morphew went missing on Mothers Day, May 10, 2020.

Morphew would be celebrating her 50th birthday today, April 30.

In honor of her memory and birthday, a bench dedication and balloon release is happening at the Poncha Springs Visitors Center in Salida.

In October, the Chaffee County Sheriff's Office says it received 1,123 tips about Morphew's disappearance, conducted 180 interviews, conducted at least 130 searches, and spent at least 4,000 hours investigating the case.

There still have not been any arrests made in connection to her disappearance. Her husband, Barry, claims his wife went for a bike ride on Mother's Day and never came back.
