Officials investigating fatal shooting in Security-Widefield
KRDO - UPDATE (04/19/21): On Monday, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said they have identified and taken the suspect for the shooting into custody. EPCSO identified the suspect as:18 year-old Kamrin Long. Officials said Long has been booked on charges of First Degree Murder.
EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal shooting in Security-Widefield on Sunday.
According to Lieutenant Deborah Mynatt, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office received a call around 5:03 p.m. from a person who said they heard multiple gunshots in the 4800 block of Spokane Way.
When deputies arrived, they found two people, each with a single gunshot wound. Both individuals were transported to a local hospital.
One person died from their injuries at the hospital. The severity of the other person's injuries are unknown at this time.
According to the sheriff's office, the area near Spokane Way and Passing Sky Drive will remain closed as their investigation continues.
The identities of those involved in the shooting are being withheld at this time, pending identification by the coroner's office. However, both are in their late teens.
The sheriff's office could not say whether all suspects have been accounted for or whether or not there was still an active threat to the surrounding community.
